Chapter 675 Infiltrating the Factory!
Chapter 675 Infiltrating the Factory!
Karen's body trembled slightly, the struggle in his eyes growing more intense. He lowered his head, looking at his hands stained with dust and blood, and let out a low whimper. Silence fell again in the interrogation room, broken only by his heavy breathing and the hum of the incandescent bulb. The air seemed to solidify, heavy and suffocating.
Lynn didn't urge him any further, but simply stood there quietly, giving him time to think. He knew that although Karen was brutal, deep down he might still have a sliver of conscience that hadn't been extinguished, and those ordinary people who were used as experimental subjects were the key to unlocking that conscience.
After a good ten minutes, Karen slowly raised his head. The ferocity in his eyes disappeared, replaced by exhaustion and despair. His voice was so hoarse that it was almost inaudible: "The laboratory... is in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of La Ceva Port. It used to be a sugar processing plant, abandoned for many years. We converted it into a laboratory. It is heavily guarded and has people on guard outside."
A barely perceptible glint flashed in Lynn's eyes, but his face remained expressionless. He pressed on, "Where exactly is it located? What is the structure of the abandoned factory like? How many guards are inside? And how many ordinary people are being used as experimental subjects?"
Karen slowly closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and when he opened them again, his gaze was vacant. He slowly said, "The exact location is along the Red River in the suburbs. Go south along the port's freight road for about ten kilometers, and there's an abandoned factory area. The largest red brick factory building at the very back is our laboratory. The factory has three floors. The first floor is the guardhouse and warehouse, storing experimental equipment and reagents; the second floor is the experimental area, where the glass chambers are located, as well as the offices for the experimental staff; the third floor is the rest area, where the guards and experimental staff take turns resting."
He paused, a hint of weariness in his voice, and continued, "There are more than twenty guards, all equipped with assault rifles and walkie-talkies. The factory is surrounded by surveillance cameras and barbed wire. There are two guard posts at the entrance, manned 24 hours a day. The test subjects... there are about thirty people, all homeless people we caught from the streets, and some disobedient underlings. Most of them have been injected with basic drugs, and a few have been injected with intermediate drugs, and they have already shown slight signs of mutation."
"Where are the researchers? How many are there? Are they all in the lab right now?" Lynn continued to press, his fingertips already subtly pressing the earpiece to signal the team members outside to get ready and record all the information Karen was saying.
“There are five researchers, all scientists we coerced,” Karen’s voice trailed off. “They spend most of their time in the experimental area on the second floor, injecting drugs into the subjects and recording data. They take turns resting on the third floor at night. They are also very scared, but we threaten them with their families, so they dare not resist.”
Lynn nodded slightly, confirming that Karen's information was relatively complete. He looked at Karen and his tone softened: "The fact that you can say these things at least shows that you still have a shred of conscience. I will remember what you said today and explain the situation for you in front of the judge."
Karen smiled bitterly and shook her head: "No need. I know I deserve to die. Atonement is just self-deception. I only hope that you can rescue those people quickly and stop them from suffering the pain I once inflicted on them."
Lynn didn't say anything more, just nodded and turned to walk towards the door of the interrogation room. When he reached the door, he stopped and glanced back at Karen—the once arrogant mob boss, now slumped in his chair like a deflated balloon, his eyes vacant and radiating despair.
Pushing open the door to the interrogation room, the brightly lit corridor outside contrasted sharply with the somber atmosphere inside. The corridor walls were white, neatly tiled, and the floor was spotless. Occasionally, uniformed police officers would hurry by, stopping and bowing respectfully upon seeing Lynn.
Jason was standing at the end of the corridor, notebook in hand. Seeing Lynn come out, he immediately rushed over, his face filled with urgency: "Captain, how is it? Did Karen say anything? Has the location of the lab been found?"
Lynn nodded, his tone becoming serious: "Found it. It's in an abandoned sugar processing plant on the outskirts of La Ceva. I've sent you the exact location. Immediately notify all team members to assemble downstairs in ten minutes, bring your equipment, and we'll set off immediately to rescue those ordinary people being used as experimental subjects."
"Okay, Captain!" Jason nodded immediately, an excited expression on his face. He quickly took out his walkie-talkie and began to notify the team members, "Attention everyone, attention everyone, assemble downstairs immediately, grab your equipment, we're leaving in ten minutes. Target: abandoned sugar processing plant on the outskirts of La Ceva Port, to carry out a rescue mission! I repeat, assemble downstairs immediately, we're leaving in ten minutes!"
Lynn leaned against the corridor wall, gazing out the window. It was now fully light, sunlight streaming through the windows and casting dappled shadows on the floor. The distant port of La Ceva was still bustling with activity, fishing boats crisscrossing the water, container trucks coming and going. But no one knew that in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city, more than thirty innocent people were enduring inhuman torture.
“Captain, Officer Rodriguez is here too. He said he’ll lead the officers to assist us in the rescue mission,” Jason said to Lynn as he strode back.
Lynn nodded slightly: "Okay, let him take the police officers and do a good job of guarding. The area around the laboratory is heavily guarded and there are many people watching. We must be careful and cautious. We must not only rescue the experimental subject, but also ensure the safety of ourselves and the police officers. We cannot make any mistakes."
“Understood!” Jason replied immediately, turning to inform Rodriguez.
Lynn took a deep breath, straightened his combat uniform, and pressed his earpiece to confirm that the communication equipment was working properly. He knew the mission ahead would be arduous. The abandoned factory was heavily guarded, with guards equipped with heavy weapons, and there was a possibility of encountering mutated experimental subjects. A slight mistake could result in injury or even death for his team members. But he did not flinch; his eyes were filled with determination—he had to rescue those innocent people, he had to completely destroy that evil laboratory, and he had to ensure that Karen and the others received the punishment they deserved.
Ten minutes later, the team members and officers had all assembled in the open space downstairs. Each was dressed in combat uniform, carrying an assault rifle, and equipped with bulletproof vests, walkie-talkies, and first-aid kits. Their eyes were resolute, and their presence commanding. Rodriguez stood at the head of the officers' formation, walked to Lynn's side, and said in a serious tone, "Detective Lynn, all officers are ready and at your command."
“Alright,” Lynn nodded, walked to the front of the group, his gaze sweeping over everyone, and said firmly, “Everyone, we’re going to an abandoned sugarcane processing plant on the outskirts of LaCeva Port. It’s a mutant laboratory belonging to the Karen organization, where there are over thirty ordinary people being used as test subjects, enduring inhuman torture. Our mission is to destroy the laboratory, rescue all the test subjects, and capture all the guards and experimenters. Remember, the safety of the test subjects is the priority, followed by your own safety. Cooperate seamlessly, and do not act on your own, understand?” “Understood!” everyone shouted in unison, their voices loud and clear, echoing throughout the open space, filled with unwavering faith and a determination to win.
"Let's go!" Lynn ordered, and the team members and police officers boarded the SUVs, the engines roaring and breaking the morning's tranquility. The three SUVs drove out of the open space one after another, speeding along the port's freight road towards the abandoned sugarcane processing plant in the suburbs.
The road was flanked by dense tropical rainforests, towering trees casting dappled shadows through the leaves. Occasionally, a few dilapidated huts could be seen along the roadside, their roofs overgrown with weeds, clearly abandoned for years. The air was filled with the fresh scent of tropical plants mingled with the earthy aroma, a stark contrast to the stifling atmosphere of the interrogation room and the pungent smell of the docks. But Lynn and his team remained vigilant, each gripping their weapons tightly, their eyes scanning the surroundings warily, ready to respond to any unexpected situation.
“Captain, we’re still three kilometers from the abandoned factory. Should we slow down and send out reconnaissance team members to scout out the area around the factory?” Jason asked Lynn through his headset.
Lynn nodded slightly: "Okay, send two reconnaissance team members to quietly circle around the factory, check the guard positions, the distribution of surveillance cameras, and the situation of the barbed wire. Be careful to stay hidden and not be discovered. Report any situation immediately."
"Understood!" Jason replied immediately, then gave a wink to the two team members beside him. The two team members nodded, stopped by the jungle by the roadside, quickly changed into camouflage uniforms, slung their reconnaissance equipment over their shoulders, and quietly slipped into the jungle, heading towards the abandoned factory.
The SUV continued forward, its speed slowing considerably. Lynn leaned back in his seat, gazing out the window, his mind replaying Karen's description of the laboratory's structure: a guardhouse and warehouse on the first floor, an experimental area on the second, a rest area on the third, over twenty guards, more than thirty test subjects, and five coerced scientists. He silently planned his operation: first, have snipers occupy the high ground around the factory, controlling the guard posts and surveillance cameras at the entrance; then, send out team members to cut the barbed wire, quietly infiltrate the first floor, eliminate the guards in the guardhouse, and take control of the warehouse; next, split into two teams: one to the second floor to rescue the test subjects and capture the experimental personnel, and the other to the third floor to eliminate the resting guards and experimental personnel; finally, destroy the experimental equipment and reagents in the laboratory to ensure no more test subjects are harmed.
“Captain, the reconnaissance team sent a message,” Jason’s voice came through the headset. “There is indeed barbed wire around the factory, and there are two guard posts at the entrance, each with two guards armed with assault rifles. There are eight surveillance cameras around the factory, covering the entire perimeter, and no other mobile guards have been spotted. In addition, there is a small gap at the back door of the factory, and the barbed wire is damaged, making it suitable for stealthy infiltration.”
Lynn nodded slightly: "Okay, got it. Notify the snipers to immediately go to the high ground around the factory and aim at the guards and surveillance cameras at the gate. Once the operation begins, destroy the surveillance cameras and take out the guards in the guard posts as soon as possible. Don't leave any survivors to prevent them from raising the alarm. Notify the reconnaissance team to wait at the gap in the back door and wait for us to arrive before infiltrating the factory together."
"understand!"
A few minutes later, the SUV arrived at the edge of the jungle near the abandoned factory. Lynn, his team, and the police officers got out and quietly slipped into the jungle, heading towards the factory. The jungle was overgrown with weeds and vines, and the rustling of fallen leaves underfoot sounded particularly jarring in the silence. The team members and police officers kept their bodies low, slowed their pace, and scanned their surroundings warily, trying not to make any unnecessary noise.
Reaching the edge of the jungle, Lynn stopped and peered through the gaps in the leaves at the abandoned factory in the distance. It was a massive red-brick factory building, its walls crumbling and revealing the cement beneath. Many roof tiles were missing, and weeds sprouted from the cracks, giving it a particularly desolate appearance. A tall, rusty barbed wire fence surrounded the factory, with a "No Entry" sign hanging on it. The two guard posts at the entrance were dimly lit, and one could vaguely see guards pacing back and forth inside, their assault rifles conspicuously visible. Eight surveillance cameras slowly rotated around the factory, covering the entire outer perimeter.
"The sniper is in position and ready to move in at any time," came the sniper's calm voice through the headset.
"The reconnaissance team is already waiting at the gap in the back door; the broken barbed wire is wide enough for us to sneak in," Jason's voice followed.
Lynn took a deep breath, pressed his earpiece, and said firmly, "Attention everyone, operation begins! Snipers, destroy the surveillance cameras immediately and take out the guards at the gate! Reconnaissance team, open the back door and let us in! The rest of you, follow me, move quickly, remain quiet, and do not fire without authorization unless there is danger!"
"understand!"
The words had barely left his lips when two crisp sniper shots rang out, "Bang! Bang!" The sounds were soft, yet they accurately struck the two guards in the gatehouse. The two guards didn't even have time to utter a sound before they fell to the ground. Immediately afterward, several more soft gunshots rang out, destroying all eight surveillance cameras one by one. The monitor screens instantly went black, and the perimeter security around the factory was paralyzed in an instant.
"The surveillance and guard post security have been taken care of!" came the sniper's voice.
"The back door has been opened; we can infiltrate at any time!" the reconnaissance team member's voice rang out.
"Go!" Lynn shouted in a low voice, standing up first and sneaking towards the back door of the factory. His teammates and officers followed closely behind, their movements swift and agile, trying to make as little noise as possible. (End of Chapter)
