Chapter 4: Leaving the Village to Slay Monsters
Chapter 4: Leaving the Village to Slay Monsters
After saying goodbye to the musty-smelling temporary hut, Lin Tian walked steadily toward the only exit of the 10086 beginner village.
The smell of damp earth was still strong.
Before we even reached the village entrance, the clamor of voices crashed against us as if it were a tangible force.
The two simple gates at the village entrance, made of rough logs, were no longer functional, and the gates were crowded with a dense crowd.
"A B-tier talent [Berserk War Cry] expert is leading the team! We're 4 players short! Looking for a powerful mage! No D-tier or lower talents please! Come quickly!"
A burly warrior, carrying a huge wooden club, spoke with a booming voice and an undisguised arrogance on his face.
Three people, each with different equipment but with fawning eyes, were already standing beside him.
"The entire team has C-level talents: [Accuracy], [Thick Skin], and [Sprint]! A stable and efficient team, but we're missing a female healer! A girl would be safer!"
A seemingly composed young marksman shouted loudly.
"D-rank talent [Basic Gathering], looking for a leveling party to carry me! I'll handle everything from picking up items to running errands! Please, guys, give me a break!"
A thin boy, his voice trembling with tears, anxiously weaved through the crowd, but few paid him any attention.
"A-tier talent [Heart of Flame] expert looking to form a group! Looking for two strong DPS! B-tier talents required! Trash talents and noobs, get out of here! Don't waste everyone's time!"
A mage, dressed in a brand-new robe and seemingly still surrounded by a faint heat wave, stood on a slightly higher rock, his eyes looking down and his voice cold.
A chorus of gasps and flattery immediately erupted around him:
"Wow! A-level talent! Amazing! Truly amazing! I'm so envious!"
"Yeah, yeah, I worked my butt off just to get a C-level [Strong Vitality], it's so frustrating!"
"Ahhh! Pro! I'm a girl! I have a sweet voice and can shout '666'! Please carry me! My talent is C-level [Light and Agile Steps], I run fast!"
A girl wearing ill-fitting leather armor and whose face was smeared with mud but still managed to conceal her pretty features waved her arms vigorously, trying to attract the attention of the A-level boss.
More often, there were various chaotic shouts:
"Warrior looking for a group!", "Looking for a tank!", "Mage looking for a carry!", "Priest looking for a group?"
Intertwined, they form a noisy ocean filled with desire and panic.
Lin Tian stood on the periphery of the crowd, like a stone thrown into boiling water that remained cold.
His sharp eyes quickly swept over the hastily assembled team, assessing its efficiency and risks.
Join an A-level or a powerful B-level team?
That means higher monster-killing efficiency and potential safety guarantees.
But it also means more attention and potential trouble—his talent, which is beyond god-level, is a trump card that must never be exposed.
Joining a weak D-rank team? Inefficient and a complete waste of time.
Or should I just be the one doing the brushing?
Hearing other players complain that it's too difficult for a level 0 player to farm monsters alone, that they can easily die and have to respawn at the respawn point, which takes a lot of time.
His gaze eventually settled on a medium-sized team with loud voices and a fairly clear organization.
The captain was a young soldier who looked to be in his early twenties, holding a crude wooden shield. He was shouting loudly:
"Stable boar farming team! Need one mage! C or D tier talents are fine! Must be able to follow commands and deal damage! Limited spots available, first come, first served!"
The team already has an agile warrior wielding a short sword (possibly an assassin).
An archer carrying a short bow and a young priest holding a wooden staff, looking somewhat nervous.
The overall configuration is balanced, and the team leader seems reliable enough.
Lin Tian pushed aside the people in front of him, walked up to the captain, and asked calmly, "Mage, may I join?"
Team leader Lin Yihang's eyes lit up as he looked Lin Tian up and down.
Lin Tian only had a coarse cloth beginner's robe given to him by the system, and his equipment was shabby, but his eyes were calm and he did not have the panic of a beginner, which made him feel good about Lin Tian.
"Of course you're welcome! Hello, I'm Captain Lin Yihang, a soldier."
"Lin Tian," Lin Tian replied simply.
"Haha, we're from the same clan! What a coincidence! Welcome to the team!"
Lin Yihang laughed heartily, patted Lin Tian on the shoulder, and then quickly introduced his teammates:
"My profession is assassin."
"This is A-Jie, the warrior (the young man with the short sword nodded);"
This is Xiao Feng, the archer (the young man with the bow on his back smiled shyly).
This is Xiaoyu, our pastor's sister (the young pastor gripped his cane slightly nervously).
Lin Tian nodded slightly to the three of them as a greeting.
The initial skills of each class are roughly the same, except for the priest, whose initial skill is healing.
The warrior's initial skill is [Heavy Strike].
[Heavy Strike]
[Rank: F]
[Effect: Consumes 10 mana, deals physical damage equal to 150% of physical attack power to the target, with a chance to knock back the enemy.]

The assassin's initial skill is [Backstab].
Backstab
[Rank: F]
[Effect: Consumes 10 mana, deals 150% Agility as physical damage to the target, and deals 200% Agility as physical damage when attacking the back.]
[Cooldown: 10 seconds]
The archer's initial skill is [Double Arrow].
[Double Arrow]
[Rank: F]
[Effect: Consumes 10 mana, fires 2 arrows in quick succession, each dealing 150% Agility as physical damage.]
[Cooldown: 15 seconds]
The priest's initial skill is [Heal].
[cure]
[Rank: F]
[Effect: Consumes 10 mana points, emitting a healing light on the target, restoring 150% of their spirit as health.]
[Cooldown: 15 seconds]
"Okay, everyone's here!"
Lin Yihang's spirits lifted.
"Our target is clear: east of the village entrance! A brother just crawled out of the respawn point and said the monsters there are level 0 wild boars—tough and high-HP, but slow-moving. As long as we don't get poked, it's relatively safe! Let's go!"
The group squeezed out of the chaotic village entrance and ran towards the trampled, muddy woodland to the east.
The air was filled with an even stronger earthy smell and a faint... bloody odor?
Other squads began to appear in their field of vision, along with scattered wild boars being besieged.
They hadn't run far when their target appeared in a small, relatively open clearing in the woods.
A wild boar, the size of a calf, covered in coarse black bristles and with protruding tusks, was rooting in the soil, grunting heavily.
Its eyes were scarlet, filled with a wild, ferocious light.
Lin Tian's gaze sharpened, and he focused his mind.
A semi-transparent message box, visible only to him, instantly appeared above the wild boar:
【Name: The Fiery Wild Boar】
[Level: 0]
[Rank: F (Common)]
Attack: 28
[Defense: 0]
【Speed: 3】
[HP: 100/100]
【Special Ability: Charge (Straight-line charge, briefly increases speed to 5)】
[Description: Thick-skinned and with sharp fangs. When enraged, it will unleash a powerful straight-line charge. Keep your distance to avoid being hit!]
"Attack at 28 points!"
Lin Tian instantly completed the calculation in his mind.
"With my current health, if I get hit head-on three times, I'll be sent back to the altar resurrection point for free."
Speed 3…not fast at all, but be careful of that [Charge] skill.
"As planned! Ah Jie will use his flank to draw attention."
Xiao Feng remotely restrains [the enemy].
Brother Lin, watch your fireball output!
Light rain is expected; if anyone is injured, immediately bring blood!
Watch your positioning, everyone, don't get caught in the crossfire!
Lin Yihang was quite experienced, and he quickly issued instructions while raising his wooden shield and cautiously approaching.
"clear!"
A-Jie nimbly circled around to the side of the wild boar.
Xiao Feng quickly drew his bow and nocked an arrow.
Lin Tian focused his gaze, locking onto his target.
He raised his hand and activated the skill [Fireball].
