The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor

Chapter 131: Rampage

Chapter 131: Rampage

Lynn and Vivian stepped over the blood-stained land, heading toward their next target.

In the later stages of grinding and leveling up, even the ogres, driven desperate by hunger, were frightened by Lynn’s frenzied slaughter. The rear troops voluntarily turned into the front line and fled madly into the depths of the underground.

Lynn couldn’t stand this. In the past, when grinding these small monsters, none of them would run away. The ones that had the consciousness to flee were at the very least a mini-boss. Even elite monsters would charge at players they had no chance against, not fearing death in the slightest.

But in actual monster hunts, even ogres with a mere level 200 and the level 350 ogre chieftains would run, slowing down his monster grinding speed significantly compared to expectations.

However, it wasn’t a big problem. He wasn’t here in the underground city to sweep everything clean. The key was to wipe out the organized monster groups and take down the boss; leaving some small monsters behind was up to the real army to clean up.

Later, on the second and third floors of the underground, Lynn and Vivian encountered a small tribe of blade demons and two fear demon settlements, slaughtering a moderate number of magical monsters. Vivian’s level jumped all the way to level 150, a fifty percent increase from when she descended. This leveling speed kept a constant smile on her face during their journey.

If the monsters deeper in the underground city were stronger and more numerous, she might have a chance to break through the 300-level barrier today, completely shedding the "liability" label.

Observing Vivian’s level changes through the team interface, Lynn felt quite gratified and reminiscent of his own leveling days, marveling at the hardships of being in the top rank through one’s own efforts.

His experiences in the Miracle game mirrored those of a virtual online game protagonist. Without fortune favoring him and several fortuitous encounters in-game, how could he have leveled up faster than the Mages and become the sole Supreme Saint Emperor, the Near God?

But that was all after the "Demon King Descends" update in Miracle. During the pioneering era of the first-generation players, he too endured bitter hardships, living like a survivor in the wild.

It wasn’t until the official introduction of the Seven Great Demon Kings in the Miracle game that Lynn happened to achieve the first kill of the Sloth Demon King, gaining fame instantly and skyrocketing from a wilderness survivor to an elite adventurer.

From then onwards, the record for the first kill of each of the remaining six Demon Kings bore his gaming nickname and was synonymous with his name.

In the late game, Lynn no longer worried about food and drink. He even felt he needed some digestion tablets.

"Be more cautious on the next level because it will be completely dark."

At the entrance to the passage from the third to the fourth underground level, Lynn gave Vivian a word of caution.

The creatures on the first three levels all needed some light. But starting from the fourth level, the rank of monsters increased, and they became more adapted to darkness. Below, it might not be utterly dark, but without reaching 300-level night vision, Vivian’s movements would be greatly restricted.

In the past, Lynn wouldn’t have had this problem. He could have converted his attribute-free fighting spirit into Light Attribute, illuminating at least half of the map.

But not now. He’s been rejected by the Light, unable to use the Power of Light. When he had previously fooled Cleia with the Divine Awarded Medal, he had to be very careful using attribute-free fighting spirit, making it look like respect for the Divine Artifact, when he was actually afraid of being burned, trying not to let Cleia catch on.

"Mm-mm, I’ll hold tight. You just go wild, and I’ll keep quiet every step of the way,"

Vivian grabbed the chain on Lynn’s armor, nodded, and replied sweetly.

Shouldn’t it be me going wild while you go ’gaga’? Together, we’d be a ’gaga kill squad.’ Staying quiet... silent slaughter might also be nice.

"Let’s head down then,"

said Lynn as he led Vivian down to the fourth underground layer.

This entire fourth layer of the underground city was the domain of soul demons, littered with tombs and mounds.

Apparently, it had been too long since anyone had ventured down here, for when Lynn and Vivian first stepped onto this subterranean graveyard, the wandering spirit fiends had no reaction to seeing living humans.

Only when Lynn unleashed his flame skills, the most effective against spirit demons aside from Light Power, did the spirit demons shriek and scatter in all directions under the blaze’s radiance.

If the intruders were ordinary warriors, the spirit demons would have taught them a lesson. But facing a Light Divine Mage or Fire Mage meant they’d only learn what it meant to be a ghost.

In this underground city, all other six levels were constructed by slave imps, and the monsters all flowed from the Demon Realm. Only this level was different; it was originally a massive underground burial ground. The soul demons were once genuine spirits, tasked with guarding the fourth underground level after being demonized by the Demon Race.

Compared to other monsters, they were the original inhabitants here, having lived—or rather, died—many years ago, always having been around.

Unlike the other monsters that experienced the Demon Race’s glorious era, the sole impression the spirit demons had of the Human Race was being purged, transforming them from hundreds of thousands of spirits into just five thousand.

Now the humans were back, and one of them could wield fire. The spirit demons, long seasoned enough to become wise, had no intention of even attempting a trial, choosing instead to flee unanimously.

"Damn..."

One Dragon-Breaking Slash only managed to take down two or three imps. Although the level 400 spirit demons could give Vivian significant experience, she first needed to catch them.

"These tombstone dancing fellows must all be retired square dancers, way too savvy,"

Lynn muttered a few curses but had no motivation to chase after the scattered and fleeing spirit demons with Vivian’s impaired mobility. Moving on to the next level, killing whatever he encountered along the way seemed the best course.

Then Lynn left the fourth underground level empty-handed, nearly spitting on the ground on his way out in frustration.

The fifth underground level belonged to demonized minotaurs.

As the Pure Love War God, Lynn was an invincible force on this level, slaughtering minotaurs until their corpses lay everywhere, rivers of blood ran deep. Had they not fled quickly, he would surely have exterminated their entire kind!

The sixth underground level was inhabited by dark dwarves. Lynn didn’t spare them just because of their short stature. Besides, compared to ordinary dwarves skilled in forging, dark dwarves favored cremation furnaces and loved to turn their prey into bone ashes to brew wine.

During the Demon Race invasion, countless beings from various races became bone ash wine brewed by the dark dwarves.

With a kind heart, Lynn couldn’t bear to see the dwarves without wine. So he helped them all become raw materials for bone ash wine, waiting for a destined adventurer to collect them and send them into their beloved cremation furnaces.
